December 14, 2024 5:00 – 7:00 PM Come celebrate the season in Ash Cave.
Step away from the hectic holiday season and come bundled for the weather while enjoying a lighted stroll back to Ash Cave.
Meet at Ash Cave.
Be prepared for winter weather with proper winter attire and shoes.
Self-guided walk to Ash Cave with a visit from Santa, music, crafts, and treats.
Starting Point: Entrance to Ash Cave. Self-guided walk to Ash Cave.
Once you arrive at the cave, warm with refreshments by an open fire. Listen to or join with our carolers, have the kids visit with an old fashion Santa or help to decorate our Christmas tree for wildlife. This year's winner for a fantastic winter evening with the family! This holiday program begins with an unguided lantern walk along the paved trail to Ash Cave. Once in the cave, families can visit with Santa, sit around the campfire, listen to carolers or music, sip hot chocolate, and munch on cookies.
The candlelight dancing off the roof of Ash Cave along with the cascading waterfall deeper in the gorge make this a must-see hike for families. You can even take a stroller or wheelchair to the edge of the cave. It is chilly! Dress warmly.
Cost: The Event is FREE!
Kid-Friendly? This is a kid-friendly event.
Pet Friendly? Non-aggressive pets on leash are allowed on this hike.
There are seven major hiking areas in Hocking Hills State Park - All are one-way trail systems.
Ash Cave, Old Man's Cave, Rock House, Conkle's Hollow, Cedar Falls, Cantwell Cliffs, and Whispering Cave Trail. These park areas offer a unique experience for those who walk its paths no matter what season (the park is open year-round from dawn to dusk)—located on the southern edge of Hocking County. But those are just a handful. There are many hiking trails in the Hocking Hills include those at Wayne National Forest, Clear Creek Metro Parks, Lake Hope State Park, Vinton County Park District's Moonville Tunnel, and Hocking College's Robbins Crossing (with park programs) and the Athens Hock-Hocking Adena Rail Trail bikeway.
